Santa's Nice‑O‑Meter privacy notice
Last updated: [DATE OF PUBLICATION]
In short: Santa's Nice‑O‑Meter keeps everything on your own phone. There are no accounts, we don't collect your family's information, and there are no adverts, analytics or tracking.
This notice explains how the Santa's Nice‑O‑Meter app handles information. The app is made by SOLCARI LTD (company number 17499861, registered office 5th Floor, 167–169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF). Questions? Email admin@solcari.co.uk. Our SOLCARI privacy policy covers our website and how we handle messages you send us.
Information you enter stays on your phone
To make the app work, you can enter information that is stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. It is not sent to SOLCARI or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.
| Information | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
| Your child's first name, age, and (optionally) a photo or picture | To show on Santa's View and personalise Santa's letters (age makes letters simpler for younger children) |
| Reports of behaviour, Christmas lists, letters to and from Santa | The core features: the Nice‑O‑Meter, the Christmas list and Santa's replies |
| Your elf's name, photo and arrival date; what your child calls you | So reports and Santa's letters use the right names |
| Your grown-up PIN | To keep the grown-ups area private from children |
| Your town (optional) | To show your home on the Christmas Eve Santa Tracker |
Santa's letters are written by the app on your phone from a built-in library of messages. Nothing you type is sent anywhere to create them.
Permissions the app may ask for
All of these are optional. The app works without them.
- Camera and photos: only if you choose to add a photo of your child or your elf. The photo is copied into the app's private storage on your phone and never uploaded.
- Location (approximate only): only if you tap "Use my current location" or look up a town (on Android, town look-up needs this permission). It's used once to find your town. The app keeps just the town name and a map position rounded to about 1 km, on your phone. We never track your location, use it in the background, or ask for precise location. To turn a location into a town name (or a town name into a map position), your phone uses its built-in map service from Apple or Google, which handles that request under their own privacy policies.
- Notifications: so Santa's letters can pop up when they "arrive". These are scheduled on your phone; we don't run a notification server and don't receive anything about them.
What the app doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, tracking or third-party code that collects data about you or your children.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Purchases
The app is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process your payment under their own privacy policies. We receive only anonymous sales reports (for example, how many copies were sold in each country), not your name or payment details.
Children
Santa's Nice‑O‑Meter is designed for parents and carers to use with their children. Children can view "Santa's View"; everything else sits behind the grown-up PIN. Because the app doesn't collect information from anyone, it doesn't collect information from children.
Deleting your information
Your information stays on your phone until you delete it. You can remove a child, a report, a wish or a letter in the app; Settings → Start a new season clears reports, lists and letters; and deleting the app removes everything it stored. Phone backups (iCloud or Google) may include app data if you have backups switched on; this is controlled by your phone's settings.
Your rights and changes
Because the app's information is stored only on your phone, you are always in control of it. Your wider rights under UK data protection law are explained in our SOLCARI privacy policy. If we change how this app uses information, we'll update this notice and the date at the top, and mention it in the app's update notes.
